family medical centerAt Allen’s Family Practice Clinic of Ponchatoula, we strive to meet our commitment to you, to inform you about medical problems, and to treat you with courtesy and respect. We will do our best to address your medical needs, because helping you maintain good health is our highest priority.

If you encounter a problem or have a question, please let us know. We welcome your comments and suggestions on how we may improve service and enhance comfort and convenience for our patients.

Office Hours and Appointments
Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. We close at 3 p.m. on Fridays. We are closed daily from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch and on weekends and holidays. For emergencies, a physician from our rotational call group is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can reach the doctor by calling our office at 985-386-6198 or North Oaks Medical Center at 985-345-2700.

To provide timely service, we work by appointment only. We also ask that you assist us in the following ways:

  • Briefly describe the nature of your problem when you are making the appointment.
  • Call several days in advance for appointments.
  • If you feel you must be seen the same day, notify receptionist of the nature of your emergency. We will do our best to accommodate you.
  • If you must cancel an appointment, call us promptly so someone else may use your appointment time.
  • Inform us of any changes in your address or other contact information.
  • When you are in the office, schedule your next appointment before leaving.

Telephone Calls
When calling to speak to the doctor, please give all the important details of your condition to the receptionist. She will forward your message to the doctor, enabling him to respond quickly to your needs. Emergency calls are returned as soon as possible, while other calls are usually returned during the noon hour or after 5 p.m.

Please limit your calls after hours and on weekend to true emergencies. Our office does not handle calls for routine purposes, such as prescription refills during this time.

Prescriptions and Refills
To ensure that you have adequate medication when needed, please refill your prescription long before it runs out. You should call our office at least 48 hours in advance. Also, have your pharmacists contact our office for authorization of your refill.

For new prescriptions, you will have to call our office between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please have the telephone number of your pharmacy available. Remember, we will not refill routine prescriptions after hours or on weekends.
